Walker's Landing A collection of traditionally inspired house plans by William E. Poole.

Plan NOHCYC 1892
When natives of the West Indies immigrated to Florida to work in the cigar industry in the late 1800s, they introduced the conch house to Miami and Key West. These simple homes were either one or two stories, and were typically raised on piers with a porch or a gallery. With their front-facing gables, clapboard siding and scroll sawn gingerbread railings, these homes beckon to all who pass by. Our up-dated version features an expansive interior, with a long great room stretching across the front of the house.
The central staircase alights near the kitchen in a spacious back foyer, large enough for a computer desk. A cozy side porch provides outdoor living space. The first floor master bedroom is tucked away, with its entrance under the stairway. Another porch off the kitchen provides covered access to the garage. Above a large landing area leads to the second floor side porch. If desired, living space on the third floor could be achieved with an additional stairwell built directly over the existing one.
